A great temptation has followed me all the way through this book-that of developing the discussions to great length. Such expansion, however, would have defeated the basic purpose of the message. Multiplicity of words leads to confusion and to emphasis upon the letter; and the letter killeth. We hope this book will lead to SPIRIT, even the Spirit of truth and life. And the Spirit maketh us free. We have sincerely sought for the whole Spirit of truth in these pages. Faithful and loyal to the above principle we have grven to you, the reader, the truth as it has been re· vealed to us. For centuries we have been "repeating" the so-called Lord's prayer.
